This post is to lay to rest questions regarding as to whether or not the blogger has come across an unfortunate yet pitiable death.. NO!! I am still alive and kickin, as they say.. A brief hiatus, so to say, would do u and me a whole lotta good.. or so i felt.. u need a break from my idiotic hypocrisies.. and me, from threats and allegations...
So.. wonder what my wait was.. thats right.. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.. and so it ended.. the series that captured my imagination for 0ver 8 long years... dating well back to early tenth standard.. the one book that i must've read around 50 times.. cant believe its over!! just over!!
But what a bummer!! CNN-IBN's headline spoilt a quarter of the fun.. "Harry Potter * * at the end of Deathly Hallows".. word between the two *s deleted incase some unfortunate soul who hasnt read Harry Potter must come across my blog and threaten to execute me for spoilin the fun for them.. u can read the story without ME spoiling the fun.. though i reckon if u were careless enough to read the papers on that day, u probably know by now!! :D
I agree media is the fourth pillar of democracy and all that.. as a former part-time contributer to a weekend special of a newspaper, believe me i do.. but sometimes, the media is overstepping the line is what i felt.. A review is supposed to make u decide whether or not u buy a book, and not to shout out "THE BUTLER DID IT!!!!".. How much more pathetic can u get??
News channels will do anything for getting the attention of a channel surfer!! Paris Hilton's release was front page headlines.. I do like what Mika Brzezinski did .. On live news she refused to start the lead ie Hilton story and apologised to the viewers when asked by her co-hosts to do so .. "I am sorry about our lead story.." and added "I did not choose it.." watch the video here
Media nowadays has taken into its own prerogative to function as a vigilante judiciary.. I agree it has in some instances, aided in delivering justice.. But time has come for an introspection on whether news glorification is a good precedent for new media to follow..
As a last word, The inspirational lines of Edmund Burke and their relevance..
"Yonder sits the fourth estate.. and they are the most important of them all.."
Be seeing you soon..
